Currently using ACT2009 (7 users). I like what they have done with the dashboard for 2011 but I was also told I would need to upgrade both MSOutlook and Office programs. Is this true even if I am still running Office2000 with Outlook2003?
Realistically I am trying to save money on upgrades since this upgrading of ACE2011 seems to be yearly and I don't think the upgrades justify the cost outlays; especially with so many users.
Any feedback would be great. |

Hi,
Yes ACT 2011 is going to have some new terrific features. And yes there's the annual upgrade to consider. But that doesn't mean you have to upgrade every time. If you weren't offered the Platinum Care, an annual subscription, when you got your 2009, you might want to inquire about this, it offers several advantages including upgrades during subscription period.
You might also want to consider upgrading your Office applications. Now is a particularly great time. If you purchase Office 2007 (even the upgrade) subject to eligibility requirements, and register by the end of Sept 2010, this can cover you for upgrade to Office 2010. This is called Microsoft's Technology Guarantee Program. Read about it here:
www.pcworld.com/article/190993/microsoft_office_2010_technology_guarantee_faq.htm
I think it is a great deal, kinda a two for one.
We're also recommending Topline Dashboards at www.toplineresults.com/products/toplinedash/index.htm an ACT! add-on which are highly configurable. In addition it is possible with programming tools customize ACT dashboards in the 2009 edition.
Maybe it's good to set an annual allowance for technology upgrades both in terms of hardware and software so it doesn't hit all at once. Cause it's inevitable to upgrade to keep pace.
Let me know if this you need additional assistance.

| So is ACTonline a good option instead of ACT 2011. I do have two sales people that use act remotely via gotomypc. Would a web version that would be used by all my users at the office and out in the field be in my best interest or would the act 2011 be a better option here. |

To answer your question: "So is ACTonline a good option instead of ACT 2011."?
ACT Online aka ACT for Web is the same program and database structure as ACT on your server. The difference is the mode of access and integration features. Both are available in 2010 and 2011 versions. AfW as it relates to Outlook and MS Office and a few other small concerns, are somewhat reduced as the interface is not as built up in terms of structure via web browser.
Since you say that " I do have two sales people that use act remotely via gotomypc. " I'm thinking you may not be taking advantage of all of the functionality, since presumably they don't have separate Outlook identities, etc. So the sending of e-mails won't attach nor could you take full advantage of incoming mail.
It's reasonable to suggest you consider a needs assessment. This type of consulting develops a plan and infrastructure to support the highest and best use of your hardware, software, and human resources. It can be very cost effective to streamline your sales efforts too.
